The numbers, decoded
Three credentials, three public registries. Here is what each tells you, and exactly which government website it links to.
CAL-T
California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC)
Our permit to move households inside California. The CPUC is the state agency that licenses and regulates intrastate movers. A legitimate local mover has a CAL-T number, full stop.
US DOT
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
Our federal carrier registration. It ties our company to a safety record and an operating history you can read on the government's SAFER website. No DOT number, no business.
MC
Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
Our interstate operating authority: the federal sign-off that lets us legally move you across state lines. It lives in the same FMCSA record as the DOT number.

How to verify any mover in 60 seconds
Use this on us. Use this on the cheap quote that scared you. The honest movers are the ones who want you to.

Ask for their US DOT or CAL-T number.
Any real mover gives it instantly. It's printed on their truck and their estimate. If they dodge the question or get defensive, you already have your answer.

Look it up in the government's own record.
Paste the DOT number into the FMCSA SAFER site, or the CAL-T into the CPUC carrier search. You're reading the public record, not a page the company wrote about itself.

Check the name, the authority, and the status.
Make sure the company name matches who you're talking to and that the authority is active. Then the big one: check that they're listed as a CARRIER, not a BROKER. Brokers don't own trucks; they sell your move to the cheapest bidder.

Walk away from anyone who won't be checked.
A quote with no written breakdown, or a refusal to share a license number: those are the classic broker tactics. The honest movers are the ones daring you to look.

Need a Certificate of Insurance for your building?
High-rises, co-ops and HOAs almost always require a Certificate of Insurance (COI) on file before move day, naming the building as additionally insured. Just tell us what your building's management needs, and we'll have a COI sent over. The crew that shows up wears our name and answers to us.
